BOUNERGY, a pioneer in lithium-ion battery technology, has partnered with SOCOMEC, a global leader in data center uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, to develop innovative lithium battery-based UPS solutions tailored for Southeast Asia’s booming digital infrastructure. The collaboration was formalized in
Bangkok, Thailand’s economic and technological hub, reflecting the city’s pivotal role in the region’s data center expansion.
Aligning with Bangkok’s Digital Ambitions
Bangkok, a megacity of over 17.4 million people in its metropolitan area, has emerged as Southeast Asia’s nerve center for finance, cloud computing, and AI-driven industries. However, rapid urbanization and aging power infrastructure have intensified demand for reliable energy solutions. The partnership aims to address these challenges by combining BOUNERGY’s high-performance lithium batteries—notably its UPS batteries models with
4,000+ charge cycles—with SOCOMEC’s modular UPS platforms. The hybrid systems target
30% higher energy efficiency and
50% faster recharge times compared to traditional lead-acid alternatives, critical for Bangkok’s hyperscale data centers and edge computing facilities.
Addressing Sustainability and Infrastructure Gaps
Bangkok’s chronic traffic congestion and air pollution, exacerbated by rapid growth and limited urban planning, underscore the urgency of sustainable energy transitions. The joint solutions aim to reduce carbon footprints through smart energy management, aligning with Thailand’s national sustainability goals. “Bangkok’s digital economy cannot thrive without resilient, eco-friendly power infrastructure,” stated CEO of BOUNERGY Thailand. “Our collaboration with SOCOMEC will support Thailand’s vision to become a
carbon-neutral data center hub by 2035.”
Leveraging Regional Growth Opportunities
Southeast Asia’s data center market, projected to grow at 15% CAGR through 2030, is heavily concentrated in Bangkok due to its strategic location and connectivity. The city hosts regional headquarters of multinational tech firms and serves as a gateway for investments into Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The BOUNERGY-SOCOMEC alliance plans to establish a local R&D center in Bangkok to accelerate solution customization for tropical climates and grid instability challenges.
This partnership not only strengthens Bangkok’s position as a regional tech leader but also highlights the city’s evolving role in bridging innovation and sustainability across Southeast Asia.
